Fire protection engineers have always been in demand by corporations, consulting firms, educational institutions, government bodies within the United States and demand from around the world is constantly growing. Houston area petrochemical, oil refining, and energy industries have special safety and fire requirements due to their large concentration of installations, and therefore, place a premium on Fire Protection Engineering professionals.
The Fire Engineering Technology program is structured to prepare students for a career in fire protection as well as meeting the needs of fire personnel who desire a technical degree and professional advancement. It provides the graduate skills and knowledge of current trends in, fire sciences and an overview of equipment operation in practice and through computer simulations. Here are several examples of a Christmas tree fires. The first clip demonstrates what happens to a wet Christmas tree vs. a dry Christmas tree when set on fire. The second clip shows what happens when a Christmas tree fire really gets going. Finally in the last clip you see that even when sprinklers are employed it is nearly impossible to put out a Christmas tree fire.1
