MINOR IN BIOINFORMATICS (18 hours minimum)

Required Courses:

  • BIO 1301/1101 General Biology I with Lab
  • BIOL 3303/3103 General Genetics/General Genetics Laboratory
  • CHEM 1308/1108 General Chemistry II with Lab
  • CS 1410 Introduction to Computer Science with C++
  • CS 2410 Introduction to Data Structures and Algorithms
  • CS 3304 Data and Information Structures
  • CS 4318 Database Systems

Two courses from:

  • CS 4328 Parallel Computing
  • CS 4319 Data Mining and Warehouses
  • or any approved upper-level CS courses


MINOR IN COMPUTER SCIENCE (19 hours minimum)

Required Courses:

The sequence:

  • CS 1410 Intro To CS With C++
  • CS 2410 CS II - Introduction to Data Structures and Algorithms

Six hours beyond CS 1305 Computer Literacy and

Six hours of upper-level Computer Science. The six upper level hours must be completed at UHD.



  • All hours counted toward the minor must be passed with ā€œCā€ or higher.
  • At least 6 hours of upper-level course work in the minor must be completed at the University of Houston-Downtown
