MASTER
OF ARTS IN TEACHING
An innovative program designed to meet the needs of
urban teachers.
Program Overview
The Department of Urban Education began its Master
of Arts in Teaching Program in the Summer of 2001.
This program consists of 39 hours and may be completed
in two years. Curriculum within the program is focused
on education and inquiry in urban school sites. Students
in the Masters of Arts in Teaching Program have the
option of conducting and writing about a research
study, writing a position paper, or writing a grant
as a final project in the program.
The Gordon and Mary Cain Scholarship Foundation will
aid many of the qualified students to obtain this
degree. Gifts from Gordon and Mary Cain and the Meadows
Foundation provided funds to enable us to establish
our innovative MAT program. In addition, funds from
Gordon and Mary Cain provide scholarships for students
in this program.
