Basic Peace Officer Licensing courses are conducted at the University of Houston-Downtown, Criminal Justice Training Center :
Day Courses - meet Monday thru Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, *3 Driving Labs
Morning Courses - meet Monday thru Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM, *6 Driving Labs
Evening Courses - meet Monday thru Friday from 6:00 PM to 10:30 PM, *6 Driving Labs
*Driving Labs are held on Saturdays, dates vary for each Basic Peace Officer Training Class
Tuition for the Basic Peace Officer course is $1,800.00. The Tuition will include the student's Class A Uniforms, Physical Training Uniforms, Books, Insurance and Background Investigation. All enrollees are required to make a $300.00 payment on the first day of class. To enroll in the Basic Peace Officer Certification Program all applicants must fill out and return the application along with the additional NON-REFUNDABLE $50.00 registration fee. This fee does not apply to the $1,800.00 course fee. This fee is required in order to reserve a position in the training program. Reservations are accepted on a first come / first serve basis. If you are unable to attend your "reserved" class, your reservation fee may be credited to a future class upon your request, within one year.

On your first day of class you will need to have the following items completed and ready to run in:

L-2 Medical Screening Form/L-3 Psychological Evaluation;

TCLEOSE - TCLC - form submitted;

A complete fingerprint criminal history check from the Texas Department of Public Safety;
This must be done before your first day/night of class;

Medical Screening Form (Form AE-6);

Certified copy of birth certificate;
-
High school diploma or G.E.D.*;
-
Copy of valid driver's license or identification card; and,
-
If you are a military veteran your DD214 discharge papers**.
* If you have a G.E.D. you will need to show proof of 12 college hours or proof of military experience.
** If you are a veteran you will need to have copies of all transcripts from other schools.
