BSW Advisory Board
The Advisory Board of the Bachelor of Social Work Program at UHD is a group of volunteers whose purpose is to foster and promote the on-going development of the BSW program and its status in the greater Houston area. The Board assists in planning, resource development, student recruitment and retention, and enhancing community ties and the program’s responsiveness to needs and changes in the community. We are fortunate to have a stellar group of community leaders to help guide and inform the program through its initiating years. The BSW founding Board Members are:
- Karen Burist-Simon, CEO of Capitol Management Group
- James Booker, Regional Director for Adult Protective Services
- Mitzi Coleman, UHD Alum, Graduate Student at UH-GCSW
- Scott Dixon, UHD Alum, Regional Director for Child Protective Services
- Ann Hilbig, Vice President for Neighborhood Centers
The full Board meets bi-annually. Founding Board Members are requested to serve a two year term, which will then be renewable for four year increments according to program and member needs.
