How do I declare my major in the College of Public Service?
Declaring a major in the College of Public Service involves applying to the College of Public Service for a BS in Criminal Justice BSCJ) or a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies Teaching Certification (BAIS Teaching Certification). We strongly recommend that you apply for a major upon eligibility to ensure that a complete evaluation is done and so that you can meet with a College of Public Service advisor.
Once I have applied to declare my major, how long will it take to process my application?
Please allow up to 4 weeks for your application to be processed. Once you have been accepted, you will be notified by mail or gatormail. Please allow additional time if application is submitted during high-peak registration. We encourage you to submit your application no later than the semester prior to the semester you wish to begin your upper-level coursework.
Students who are currently enrolled at UHD with a GPA of 2.0 or higher on all coursework at UHD may declare their major for the BSCJ degree.
Students who are currently enrolled at UHD with a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher (includes all transfer and UHD credits) and have passed ALL sections of the THEA may apply to declare their major for the BAIS Teaching Certification degree.
Please note: The preferred application method for this degree is to submit your application in person, via email, or by fax.
Joint Admissions community college/UHD students with a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher (includes all transfer and UHD credits) and have passed ALL sections of the THEA may apply to declare their major for the BAIS Teaching Certification degree. Students wanting to declare a major in the College of Public Service must meet the following conditions in addition to the requirements listed above:Have all transcripts and grades posted on file at UHD
