Dr. John L. Linantud has worked at the University of Houston-Downtown since 2002. He received his Ph.D. in political science from Arizona State University in December 2000 after fellowships at the Institute for the Study of World Politics of Washington, D.C. and the Hudson Institute in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr.Linantud earned his Masters Degree from George Washington and a bachelor’s degree from Catholic University, and worked at several government and policy institutions in Washington including the U.S. House of Representatives.

Dr. Linantud’s interests include political change and development, in particular questions of dictatorship, democracy, liberalism, and religion. He has published peer reviewed and edited articles on Philippine politics, U.S. foreign policy, and undergraduate education, presented his research at professional meetings, including the International Studies Association and the American Political Science Association, and taught political science at Arizona State and Houston Downtown.

John and his wife Asia, a professor of sociology at Houston Downtown, are the proud parents of Evalyn and Henryk.
