Bachelor of Social Work Program

Welcome to the Social Work program at UHD. We are delighted to offer this dynamic program to meet the needs of our city. The mission of UHD’s Bachelor of Social Work Program is to prepare entry-level social workers for theoretically informed, value-based, justice-oriented, generalist practice in an urban environment and to prepare students for future professional development and graduate study.

The focus of the program is to produce practitioners who (1) possess the cultural understanding and requisite skills to effectively work with, and empower, diverse populations, particularly minority and immigrant groups, and (2) are knowledgeable of social issues and policies from an international perspective.

Our program is in Candidacy for Accreditation by the Council on Social Work Education, the accrediting body for schools of social work in the U.S. Any student who begins the program in or after Fall 2009 will graduate from an accredited program, provided that the program actually achieves full accreditation. Our accreditation status will be reviewed by CSWE in 2012. Please visit the CSWE website for further information. |
