If you are a new student:
The Academic Advising Center (380-South, 713-221-8006) assists you as a UHD student by helping you to:
complete the universitys general education curriculum
select courses each semester
decide upon a major field of study
declare your major
obtain evaluations of previous college and university courses
understand and satisfy your TASP obligations
find
thehelp you may need to succeed in important basic skills areas such as reading, writing,
and mathematics
learn
more about UHD degrees and special programs
The Academic Advising Center is also responsible for students' academic progress until they officially declare a major field of study and have an official degree plan approved.
Students are encouraged to officially declare a major when they have completed 30 to 60 credit hours.
Before you declare a major:
you
must have completed at least 30 hours
you
must have at least a 2.0 GPA
you
must have successfully completed all required developmental courses
you
must have completed ENG 1302 (or its equivalent)
you
must have completed MTH 1301 or MTH 1310 (or its equivalent)
if
you are obligated under the Texas Academic Skills Program, you must have passed
the TASP test

When you declare a major:
you may be advised by one of the academic advisors
or find a schedule of advisors in the CHSS Academic Advising Center, 1014-S,
713-221-8460.
You may always seek the advice of one of the
faculty in your chosen field of study in social sciences.
