• Ph.D., State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse University
• M.S., State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse University

Professional Experience Outside of Academia:

• Co-Founder and President of Applied Earth Sciences, a 150-person environmental consulting firm with offices throughout the Southeastern United States and a joint venture in Buenos Aries, Argentina. The main area of work was investigation and remediation of environmental problems created by the petroleum industry.
• Environmental Scientist in the Environmental Engineering Department of Brown & Root, Inc. (now known as KBR). Wrote proposals and managed projects dealing with environmental issues.
• Founder and President of Agrorecoursos, S.A., an environmental consulting firm in Guatemala, Central America. Worked throughout Central America and the Caribbean.
• Technical Assistance Specialist for the Inter-American Institute of Agricultural Sciences, one of the specialized institutes of the Organization of American States. Worked throughout Mexico, Central America and Panama on agricultural and natural resources projects. Projects ranged from increasing rice and bean yields for small farmers to developing a master plan for the creation of a national park system for the country of Panama.
