A native Houstonian, Rita worked in retail accounting for 20 years before coming to UHD in 1997. Beginning in the English Department before transferring to the Dean’s office she received the Staff Merit Award in 2001. She graduated summa cum laude from UHD in 2006 with a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies and is a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society. She enjoys her family, pets, reading, and gardening.
