At UHD, Spanish is a part of the Department
of Arts and Humanities, along with Art,
Communication Studies,
Drama, Humanities,
and Music. There is a Bachelor
of Arts in Spanish major at UHD, as well as a minor
in the area. There is a wide variety of course
offerings for a student to choose from, taught by full-time
faculty.
Lower-division courses support degrees that have foreign
language requirements, and upper-division courses can be applied toward
degrees in Education, Interdisciplinary Studies, Humanities, as well as
the new major in Spanish. Both upper- and lower-division courses
will also count as electives towards any other UHD degree.
Students with previous experience in Spanish are required to take a placement
test before registering for a Spanish course, and it is possible for
students to receive retroactive credit and
Advanced Placement credit or College Level Examination
Program (CLEP)
credit in Spanish.
