BIOGRAPHY
Edwin K. Padilla is an associate professor of Spanish specializing in U.S. Hispanic Literature and Professional Writing. His B.A. is in Comparative Literature from the University of Puerto Rico, his M.A. is in Latin American Literature from the University of Texas at El Paso, and his Ph.D. is from the University of Houston in Hispanic Literature in the United States.
He has edited and written the introduction for “ Lo que el pueblo me dice...” by the Puerto Rican writer Jesús Colón (2001). He also wrote an introduction for Pioneros puertorriqueños en Nueva York by Joaquín Colón, and has published articles and presented papers on Spanish-language literature in the United States. He is co-author of Conozcámonos, a textbook for heritage learners coming out by September 2007.
Since 1994 he has been teaching courses for heritage and other learners of Spanish, including Advanced Grammar and Composition, Spanish Literature in the United States, and Professional Writing in Spanish.
He has served at UHD in the capacity of Advisor for the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Assistant to the chair for Humanities, Coordinator for Spanish and Advisor for LASSO (Latin American Student Services Association). Also he is a member of the College Board committee that develops the SAT Spanish Subject Test.
