Art Minor

Minimum requirements
A grade point average of 2.0 A grade of at least C in all art courses applied toward minor 12 of the 18 required hours, including the required 6 upper-level hours must be taken at UHD

Art History -- 3 to 6 hours from the following:

  • ART 1301 History of Art I
  • ART 1302 History of Art II
  • ART 1310 Art Appreciation

Upper-level -- 6 to 9 hours

  • ART 3301 Major Developments in the History of Art
  • ART 3302 History of Modern Art (crosslisted with HUM 3324)
  • ART 3303 History of Renaissance Art (crosslisted with HUM 3303)
  • ART 3306 Art and Religion - Origins (crosslisted with HUM 3306)
  • ART 3307 Art and Religion - Developments (crosslisted with HUM 3307)
  • ART 3311 Survey of Asian Art (crosslisted with HUM 3311)
  • HUM 4390 Field Experience (must be in a gallery or museum and approved)

Beginning Studio -- 3 to 6 hours from the following:

  • ART 1303 Design and Materials
  • ART 1304 Design Color and Structure
  • ART 1305 Drawing I
  • ART 1306 Drawing II

Advanced Studio -- 3 to 6 hours from the following:

  • ART 2301 Figure Drawing
  • ART 2303 Painting I
  • ART 2304 Painting II
  • ART 2306 Watercolor I
  • ART 2307 Watercolor II
  • ART 3305 Computer Graphics
  • ART 4390 Selected Topics in Studio

Required Course: HUM 4098 Portfolio. All ART minors must submit a portfolio of studio and/or written work from coursework
