Art Minor
Minimum requirements
18 hours in ART (or cross-listed HUM), 6 hours of which must be upper-level courses. A grade point average of 2.0. A grade of at least C in all art courses applied toward minor. 12 of the 18 required hours, including the required 6 upper-level hours, must be taken at UHD. Advanced and some intermediate art courses at lower and upper levels have prerequisites.
Lower-level – 3 to 12 hours from the following courses:

- ART 1310 Intro to Visual Arts
- Beginning/Intermediate Studio
- ART 1303 Design and Materials
- ART 1304 Design Color and Structure

- ART 2301 Figure Drawing
- ART 2303 Painting I
- ART 2304 Painting II
- ART 2306 Watercolor I
- ART 2307 Watercolor II
Upper-level – at least 6 hours from the following:
- ART 3301 Major Developments in the History of Art (crosslisted with HUM 3312)
- ART 3302 History of Modern Art (crosslisted with HUM 3324)
- ART 3303 History of Renaissance Art (crosslisted with HUM 3303)
- ART 3304 Contemporary Art (crosslisted with HUM 3328)
- ART 3306 Art and Religion - Origins (crosslisted with HUM 3306)
- ART 3307 Art and Religion - Developments (crosslisted with HUM 3307)
- ART 3311 Survey of Asian Art (crosslisted with HUM 3311)
- ART 3322 History of North American Art (crosslisted with HUM 3322)
- ART 3335 Ancient Near Eastern Art and Archaeology (cross-listed with HUM 3335)
- ART 3336 Greek Art and Archaeology (crosslisted with HUM 3336)
- HUM 4390 Field Experience (must be in a gallery or museum and approved)

Advanced Studio:
Required Course: HUM 4098 Portfolio. All ART minors must submit a portfolio of studio and/or written work from coursework
