The College of Business invites UHD business students to the third MEET THE INDUSTRY event from 8:30 a.m.to 3 p.m. Friday, Feb 10 at the College of Business, Shea St. Building, 320 N. Main. The event will introduce students to a variety of industries and careers pertaining to students majoring in but not limited to Finance, Business, Computer Information Systems (CIS), Supply Chain, Accounting, Insurance & Risk Management, International Business, Management, and Marketing.

 

This year, the event features two NEW panels from the Federal Reserve Bank and Retail Management.  The Federal Reserve Bank panelists who will discuss careers in accounting, business, CIS, finance, HR and security. The COB’s Director of Retail Management Tracy Davis will moderate the Retail Management panelists who will discuss the lucrative and rewarding careers available in this field. Davis says, students can be in retail and have a life outside work!  Gone are the days of 80-hour weeks with no weekends off.  The retail management world has changed and job seekers should consider this growing industry.

 

Meet The Industry’s keynote panel will discuss the job forecast for Houston and the opportunities in the oil and gas sector, finance and retail management.  Speakers and firms represented include:

  • Victoria Chin, Vice President, AIG Investments,
  • Nick Scribner, Market Manager, Wal-Mart,
  • Jesse Thompson III, Business Economist, Federal Reserve Bank and Zone Oil and Gas,
  • Bradford Witmer, Chief Financial Officer, Zone Energy


Niche panels focus on the career paths and growth trends in specific industries. Niche panelists include:

There is a $12 attendance fee for early bird registration.  Students are not required to attend all the sessions. However, please note that lunch catered by Maggianos is included in the registration fee. No phone, email or walk-in registrations are accepted. Registration is non-refundable.

The deadline for registration is 5 p.m. Feb 4. *$20 late registration deadline ends at 5 p.m. Feb 9*
