Student & Alumni Engagement

The College, and the University, are relatively young four-year institutions that historically have concentrated on program development and delivery, and less so on outreach and relationship-building with alums and current students.  New steps are being taken to improve in these areas.  A student/alumni Industry Day is now planned for each spring semester, and the College’s development director routinely arranges informal professional networking opportunities for students with professional and trade associations.  The development director also has increased the number of contacts with alums primarily via telephone calls and personal appointments.

The College welcomes a more genuine level of communication with you.  If you are an alum and there has been a significant development in your life, we would enjoy hearing about it.  Have you had a change in home or business information, a new promotion or professional or community service honor, or a milestone such as getting married or having a new baby coming into your life?  We appreciate getting calls like that.  Call or e-mail your favorite professor with an update, or if easier, please reach out to Steve Sucher, director of development, at 713-221-8288 or
e-mail Steve at suchers@uhd.edu.

Also please let us know if you have a thought or an idea about how you as a student or an alum might like to be engaged by the College.  Small group professional networking opportunities?  Small group socials?  Reunions on campus?  More targeted communications and publications?  Any suggestion you may have will be of interest to us, and please let us know!

Dean's Executive Development COuncil

The College of Business Dean’s Executive Development Council is comprised of prominent business/corporate executives who are recognized as business leaders and have a strong belief in the need for private support and involvement in higher education.  The council members provide their objective reflections concerning the College’s curriculum, strategy, and operations, and they assist with fund-raising initiatives on an ad hoc basis.

The Council meets two times each year.
