Career and "Real World" InformationHouston, the largest city in Texas and the fourth largest in the U.S., is an international and multicultural city with more than 3,400 businesses reporting international business activities. It is the energy capital of the world. Houston also has close economic ties with Mexico, which is the third largest trading partner of the U.S. In this setting, the importance of a degree program in International Business cannot be overemphasized. Additionally, globalization has significantly increased the demand for these graduates. The four-year International Business degree program at UHD prepares students for entry into careers or for continuing studies at graduate or professional schools. The salary is also highly competitive. Graduates of this program may find job opportunities in both private and public sectors. Employment opportunities exist in manufacturing firms (especially multinational corporations), financial institutions, oil and gas companies, information technology firms, and transport and communication businesses, research and consulting firms, various government agencies, non-government and international organizations, among others. Recent graduates have been employed by such reputable business organizations and Government agencies such as as Continental Airlines, Capital One Bank, J.P. Morgan Chase Bank, BMC Software Corporation, Exxon-Mobile Corporation, Shell Oil, Slumberger Corporation, Aker-Maritime Corporation, Rice University, University of Houston-Downtown, U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of Immigration and Border Control, and the Internal Revenue Service, to name a few. |
