MAKE YOUR MARK
ON THE COLLEGE OF BUSINESS
AT UH-DOWNTOWN

The new Shea Street Building at UH-Downtown has provided a welcoming environment for our students, faculty, and staff.  It is an outstanding facility that enhances the university’s physical footprint, and signals a new day for reality-based business education in Houston.

In Fall 2008, the College of Business will install its first, and the university’s first, donor wall recognizing the College’s endowment and major program start-up gifts, lifetime alumni donors, and the Academic Partners 2007-2008 annual campaign donors.  It is a modest donor wall for starters, but in future years, we intend to add panels that will reflect the full range of significant donor activity in the College over the past 30 years.

Providing reality-based business education certainly isn’t all about money – we have great faculty and staff who strive daily to make the UHD College of Business learning experience the best it can be.  It is well worth noting, however, that UHD is the 12th largest public university in Texas out of a total of 34, but tanks 32nd in the group relative to state funding.

The College of Business continues to lead the way for enrollment growth at UH-Downtown, and I am most pleased with the imminent launch of the Insurance & Risk Management Center, an initiative that has received substantial and widespread local and national industry support.  It has been a very good year for the College, in all respects.

We welcome your consideration of the Academic Partners annual campaign as a way to provide direct financial support to the College.  Your involvement and generosity will enable us to:

  • Augment and strengthen the student learning experience
  • Upgrade technology
  • Recruit faculty and students
  • Reduce above-norm faculty teaching loads
  • Establish program and operating endowments in the College

August 31, 2009, is the cutoff date for gifts to be recognized on the 2008-2009 Academic Partners donor wall.  At certain donor levels, an additional individual 12-month room nameplate is included.

For details about the Academic Partners donor recognition features, please click here. For questions and follow up please e-mail Steve Sucher, director of development in the College, at suchers@uhd.edu, or call him at 713-221-8288.

A downloadable reply form is enclosed for your convenience in communicating your wishes.  If you wish to donate online using your credit card, please visit the webpage listed below and select "COB Academic Partners" campaign in the dropdown menu.
