UHD Undergoes Reaffirmation of Accreditation UHD is currently undergoing reaffirmation of accreditation, a process required every ten years of all accredited colleges and universities. A team from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), UHD's accrediting agency, was on campus early in March to review our report and QEP initiatives. The QEP (Quality Enhancement Plan) is a major change in the current reaffirmation process and is among the core criteria for successful accreditation. Since the QEP is meant to improve learning effectiveness in a university, UHD chose to pursue an area with which we struggle regularly, that of creating an effective model for helping our students, especially first-time-in-college students, transition into our institutional culture and engage effectively in the learning process. Feeling that our original effort was a little broad to begin with, the SACS team has requested that we narrow the focus of our QEP , a process now underway.
